Now that Christmas is over, it’s time to think about
taking down the Christmas tree. May not just yet.
However, thinking ahead, if there are any Christmas
tree light strands that are not working properly and need to be discarded,
think about recycling them.
The City of Crystal Lake, in partnership with Elgin Recycling, is
accepting holiday lights for recycling through Friday, March 1, 2013.
The recycling program will accept all holiday string lighting, which includes mini-lights (or Italian lights), C7 lights, C9 lights, rope lights, LED lights, extension cords, etc. All colors and lengths will be accepted. The City cannot accept garland, live greens, wreaths or other non-recyclables.
Crystal Lake residents can drop-off their unwanted holiday lights at City Hall, located at 100 W. Woodstock Street, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Drop-off bins are located in the City Hall lobby next to the Finance/Administration counter. For more information, please feel free to contact the City at 815-459-2020.
