Social Media Certificate Series Begins At MCC

The Workforce Community and Business Programs of McHenry County College is offering a new Social Media Certificate Series beginning in September. To learn more about this new program, an information session will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 26 at the McHenry County College Shah Center.  There is no fee to attend the information session, however registration is required, using course ID: NTL S95 001.
If you're not already using social media for your business, then you might be falling behind. Platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn and blogging are already helping companies to increase brand awareness, attract new leads and engage with customers. The good news is that it's never too late to start. Social media is one of the fastest growing job segments today. Participants must have a working knowledge of a computer and the internet. Familiarity with marketing concepts as well as social media sites such as Facebook and LinkedIn is highly recommended.
This series is ideal for employees sent by their companies to acquire a social media education. Other professionals who will benefit from this training include: marketing graduates who desire social media marketing skills to qualify for open jobs, displaced workers looking for new career skills, and web developers and marketing consultants wanting to provide social media services. Upon successful completion of the courses, participants will receive a certificate of completion.
The series is divided into four courses: Social Media Marketing; Social Media Platforms Social Media Management; and the Social Media Certificate Workshop. The series is scheduled from 6 to 9:15 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays from Sept. 16 through Dec. 18, The cost of the 54- hour series is $2,100, which includes all materials. Accounting Careers Begin At McHenry County College

Those looking to enhance their career or prepare for a position in the accounting field can gain a competitive edge in today’s workforce with a Bookkeeping Certificate through the Fast Track program at McHenry County College (MCC).
Students who have experience in bookkeeping or accounting can earn a Bookkeeping Certificate in one semester by taking four highly accelerated classes, which are offered in the evening, plus one online computer literacy class. Students take two classes the first eight weeks and two classes the second eight weeks.
According to the Bureau of Labor, the job outlook for bookkeepers is excellent. Job fields include accounts payable and receivable clerks, tellers, non-profit accounting and bookkeepers across most fields of business in both the private and public sector. Salary outlook, depending on field, can range from $25,000 to $45,000 annually.
Registration is underway for fall classes. Bookkeeping Certificate classes start Thursday, August 21 through December 11.
The Fast Track at MCC is a cohort-based program that helps gives students the advantage they need when competing for jobs in today’s workforce.
