TUESDAY, OCTOBER 11
8:30 a.m. – Human Resources Committee of McHenry County Board –
Meeting in the County Board Conference Room, McHenry County Government Center, 667 Ware Road, Woodstock.
A resolution establishing guideline for Fiscal Year 2012 Pay-For Performance Adjustments is one of the two resolutions regarding compensation for county employees. A pool of money is set aside by the County Board for the approved pay-for-performance increases.
A resolution to be approved provides the guidelines for the pay-for-performance increases. Each department has a merit pool which is to be used for all eligible employees and a specific merit pool for all appointed department heads. The resolution sets the requirements and limitations for the pay increases, setting increases at 3% of the regular full-time and regular part-time FY 2012 budget allocations for salaries.
Performance ratings also enter into the increases with standards which have been set by the County Board.
Employees who have reached or exceeded the maximum allowed salary range are eligible for a cash award based on the difference between their actual salary increase and their approved merit increase as approved by the department head. Also employees that exceed the maximum salary range are eligible for a cash award based upon the annual merit salary and as approved by the department head in accordance with the merit policy.
The committee is also to consider adoption of salary ranges for FY 2011-2012. This applies to employees in appointed departments and elected officials choosing to adopt the plan. The firm of RSM McGladrey recommends that the adjustment to the wage /salary schedule for FY 2011-2012 be at 50% of the annual merit increase percentage of 3%. This would increase the midpoint of each wage/salary grade by 1.5%.
Additionally, a resolution is being considered to enter into a contract for professional services to review and update the county’s current comprehensive job evaluation/classification system and corresponding compensation program. This is to be handled by Verisight, (formerly RSM McGladrey), a firm that has been working for the County in this field for a number of years.
