Walkup Road Work Update

Walkup Road work continues with landscaping completed. 

Punch list items will continue throughout the next several weeks.

Walkup Road Construction Update

Construction activities have been suspended for the winter and will resume once weather conditions permit.  We estimate that start-up will be approximately mid-April. 

When construction resumes the following construction activities will occur: Between Crystal Ridge Drive and Talismon Drive - existing pavement will be removed, curb and gutter will be installed, and asphalt base will be placed.

The Northwest corner of IL Route 176 and Walkup Road - final grading for the multi-use path and for the sidewalk will begin.

North and South Sections - the final asphalt placement will take place followed by permanent pavement markings.

IL Route 176 and Walkup Road – traffic signal installation and activation.

Mason Hill Road and Crystal Lake Road – traffic signal installation and activation.

We estimate that the project will be completed by the end of June, 2013.

Walkup Road Work Continues

 North Leg: The storm sewer installation will be complete early next week, earth excavation work is being completed, and stone placement for the remaining widening will continue next week.

Landscaping of the east side is complete and west side (south end) is complete.  Daily lane closures will continue.

South Leg : Storm sewer work will resume next week now that pavement removal is complete.  The retaining wall along IL Route 176 is complete and will be backfilled to allow remaining storm sewer installation and completion of roadway construction on IL Route 176.  

Asphalt is currently being placed along IL 176 and to the immediate north on Walkup.

Driveway placement along IL 176 should be completed next week.  Expect a new traffic pattern on Walkup immediately north of IL 176 within the next couple of weeks.

Roadway construction continues on the east side of Walkup and the south side of IL Route 176.

Storm sewer installation also continues on the south side of IL Route 176 and at the north section of the project.

Temporary seed and blanket is being installed for erosion control.

WALKUP ROAD LANE RESTRICTIONS THURSDAY AND FRIDAY

 South Section:  Thursday June 21^st, IL 176 will have lane restrictions beginning at 7am, and lane closures at 9am.

 During the closure times traffic will be maintained by flaggers utilizing 1 lane.  Lengthy delays are to be expected. During this time crews will be doing exploratory digging in conjunction with the City to locate the existing water mains.  This exploratory work will reduce the risk of another water main break during construction.  Traffic on Walkup will also be affected by the work on IL 176.  The same restrictions are likely on Friday June 22nd. 

North section:  Utility delays have extended beyond the anticipated completion date.  The current target date for utility work to be completed is 6/29, with the contractor expected to return to work on 7/2/12.
