Thursday Road Work At Walkup Road and IL 176

On Thursday November 7th workers will be removing a small section of curb at at the southeast corner of Walkup and IL 176. 
In order to do this work the eastbound outside lane on IL 176 will be temporarily closed. 
 We expect that the lane will be re-opened at the end of the day.

Walkup Road Work Near Completion

Final landscaping along IL 176 and Walkup Road at the south section began on 6/19 and will be completed within the next week. 
“Punch-list” item work and clean-up will continue at both the south and north sections over the next few weeks.

Wakup Road Update

The new traffic signal at Walkup Road and Mason Hill Road was recently activated.  Message boards are in place to give motorists advanced warning of the new signal. Be alert when passing through. SEE PHOTOS HERE of the new signal and completed north section.
Final landscaping along IL 176 and Walkup Road at the south section will begin in the next few days. “Punch-list” item work and clean-up will follow at both the south and north sections over the next few weeks. SEE PHOTOS HERE of striping at the south section.

Walkup Road Construction Update

Last week, the new traffic signal at Walkup Road and IL Rte. 176 was activated.  The new signal at Walkup Road and Mason Hill Road was NOT activated due to weather conditions and needed installations.  This signal is scheduled to be activated the week of 6/10/2013.
This major improvement project is close to completion.  Over the next few weeks the construction crew will be addressing “punch-list” items and cleaning up the site.

Walkup Road Work Update

South Section
Final surface course placement (paving) has begun on IL Route 176 and will take 2 days to complete.  Traffic is reduced to a single lane with flaggers controlling the work zone, so please proceed with caution.
  • Paving on Walkup Road will occur after the completion of paving on IL Route 176.  Walkup Road paving will take 2 days to complete once it is started.
  •  Flashing beacons have been installed on Walkup Road North of Veteran Acres Park for the multi-use path crossing and on Walkup Road just north of Talismon Drive for a pedestrian crossing. The beacons are not yet active. They will be activated on June 5th.
  • Manhole final adjustments are complete. Use caution while driving through the area as construction barrels are still present on some manholes
  • .Curb and gutter installation along IL Route 176 and Walkup Road is complete.
  • Final sidewalk placement and landscaping along IL Route 176 and Walkup Road will begin once paving is complete.
  • The temporary traffic signal at IL Route 176 and Walkup Road will be deactivated and the newly installed permanent traffic signal will be activated on June 6th.

North Section
  • Pavement striping has started today and should take 1 day to complete. Please be aware of workers and use caution when traveling through this area.
  • The new traffic signal installed at Mason Hill Road and Crystal Lake Road is scheduled to be activated on June 6th.
  • Work is nearing completion, but both sections are still considered construction work zones. Traffic control may be required at times so please slow down and proceed with caution.

Walkup Road Construction Update

 South Section:.
·        Asphalt binder course placement is complete on the west side of Walkup Road from north of Talismon Drive to south of Crystal Ridge Drive. Final surface course will be installed within the next several weeks.
·        Installation of the concrete handholes in the left turn lanes for signal wiring is complete. Mast arms (traffic signal poles) are currently being installed.  Temporary pavement markings have been placed to help guide you through the intersection, please drive carefully and watch for intermittent lane closures at the intersection to facilitate signal pole installation. 
·        Manhole final adjustments will occur next week.  Use caution while driving through the area as construction barrels will be placed on some manholes that you will need to avoid while the concrete used for adjustments is curing.
·        The temporary traffic signal at IL Route 176 and Walkup Road will be deactivated and the newly installed permanent traffic signal will be activated on June 6th.
·        Multi-use path installation is complete along the east side of Walkup Road.
·        Sidewalk installation along IL Route 176 and Walkup Road is ongoing.
·        Landscaping will start next week.
North Section:
·        Paving of the final lift of asphalt is scheduled to be completed today.
·        Shoulder stone will be placed next week. 
·        Permanent pavement striping is scheduled to occur next week.
·        Please be aware: the new traffic signal installed at Mason Hill Road and Crystal Lake Road is scheduled to be activated June 6th
·        Temporary lane closures and flagger operations may be required at times so please slow down and proceed with caution.

Walkup Road Work Progress

Binder surface course installation at the IL 176 intersection with Walkup Road was completed Wednesday 5/8.  Final surface course will be installed within the next several weeks.  Today (weather permitting) the contractor will prep for placing asphalt on Friday on the west side of Walkup Road from north of Talismon Drive to south of Crystal Ridge Drive. 
Work on the traffic signals will continue at the intersection with installation of the concrete handholes in the left turn lanes for signal wiring. In order to allow this handhole installation work to occur safely in the left turn lanes, traffic will be relocated to the outside lanes approaching the intersection while this work occurs.
Multi-use path installation will begin today along the east side of Walkup Road. 
Landscaping will tentatively start late next week or early the following week.
North Section:
Paving of the final lift of asphalt is scheduled to begin next week and last approximately 1 week.
Temporary lane closures and flagger operations may be required at times so please slow down and proceed with caution.

Walkup Road Lane Closures Expected

Expect daily lane closures on Walkup Road for storm sewer work.
The contractor is placing concrete sidewalk at the northwest quadrant of IL 176 and Walkup Road.
Weather permitting, the concrete curb & gutter work on the south side of IL 176 will begin on Wednesday 4/17.
The underground contractor is to resume storm sewer installation on Walkup Road between Crystal Ridge and Talismon.

Walkup Road Construction Update

Construction activities have been suspended for the winter and will resume once weather conditions permit.  We estimate that start-up will be approximately mid-April. 
When construction resumes the following construction activities will occur:
Between Crystal Ridge Drive and Talismon Drive - existing pavement will be removed, curb and gutter will be installed, and asphalt base will be placed.
The Northwest corner of IL Route 176 and Walkup Road - final grading for the multi-use path and for the sidewalk will begin.
North and South Sections - the final asphalt placement will take place followed by permanent pavement markings.
IL Route 176 and Walkup Road – traffic signal installation and activation.
Mason Hill Road and Crystal Lake Road – traffic signal installation and activation.
We estimate that the project will be completed by the end of June, 2013.
