Students
who have experience in bookkeeping or accounting can earn a Bookkeeping
Certificate in one semester by taking four highly accelerated classes, which
are offered in the evening, plus one online computer literacy class. Students
take two classes the first eight weeks and two classes the second eight weeks.
According
to the Bureau of Labor, the job outlook for bookkeepers is excellent. Job
fields include accounts payable and receivable clerks, tellers, non-profit
accounting and bookkeepers across most fields of business in both the private
and public sector. Salary outlook, depending on field, can range from $25,000
to $45,000 annually.
Registration
is underway for fall classes. Bookkeeping Certificate classes start Thursday,
August 21 through December 11.
The Fast
Track at MCC is a cohort-based program that helps gives students the advantage
they need when competing for jobs in today’s workforce.
