High school students interested in
conservation are encouraged to submit an application for the Carl J. Mitchell
Memorial Conservation Scholarship offered by McHenry County Conservation
District.
Funds distributed through this scholarship are
intended to cover the costs of an environmental workshop or trip, camp, career
seminar or other environmental related events of their choice. It is not
intended for funding college fees or tuition.
Applications are due by March 1, 2013.
Interested students should send a letter of application that tells about
themselves, describes the event they have chosen, why they wish to attend the
event, and how the activity fits the goals of the scholarship program. A
brochure or official publication about the program/event are applying for

Carl Mitchell was a McHenry County
resident who developed important new techniques in plant hybridization during
his career. Upon his death, his family established this memorial fund to
