Auditions At MCC Black Box Theatre For Spring 2015

The Black Box Theatre at McHenry County College will host auditions for its Spring 2015 production of “columbinus.”  A play sparked by the April 1999 massacre at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado, columbinus probes the psychological warfare of alienation, hostility and social pressure that goes on in high schools across America. Created by The United States Theatre Project, written by Stephen Karam and P.J. Paparelli and directed by Jay Geller, columbinus weaves together excerpts from discussions with parents, survivors and community leaders in Littleton as well as diaries and home video footage to bring to light the dark recesses of American adolescence.

Auditions will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 8 and 9 in the Black Box Theatre, Room E-122 at McHenry County College.  Those who are auditioning should provide a two- to three-minute dramatic monologue or a reading will be provided.  Roles are available for five men and three women, ages 16 through 25.

Callbacks will be held on Thursday, Dec. 11.  Rehearsals will begin on Monday, Jan. 19 and will continue each Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings.  Performances will be held March 5-7, 12-14, and 19-21.  Scripts will be available on reserve in the MCC Library.  For more information, call (815) 455-8746 or send an email to jgeller@mchenry.edu.

"Waiting For Godot" Presented On MCC Stage

The Black Box Theatre at McHenry County College (MCC) will present Samuel Beckett’s absurdist masterpiece, “Waiting for Godot” at 7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, Oct. 17, 18 and 19 and at 2 p.m. Oct. 19 and 20. Performances will be held at Woodstock North High School, 3000 Raffel Road in Woodstock.

 “Waiting for Godot,”  revolves around two seemingly homeless men waiting for someone or something named Godot. Vladimir and Estragon wait near a tree on a barren stretch of road, inhabiting a drama spun from their own consciousness. The result is a comical wordplay of poetry, dreamscapes and nonsense, which has been interpreted as a somber summation of mankind's inexhaustible search for meaning. 

The cast features Joe Rice of Woodstock, Matt Torres of  Lake in the Hills, Dave Lysen of Huntley, Shawn Tracy and Breanne McDonagh of McHenry. “Waiting for Godot” is directed by Jay Geller of Kildeer, with set design by Sue Lewis of Crystal Lake, lighting by Rick Amundsen of Woodstock, costume design by Tish Lyon of Woodstock, stage manager Tj Neveitt of McHenry, and assistant director Sandy Pieczonka of Crystal Lake.

Auditions For "Waiting for Godot" Monday and Tuesday At MCC

The Black Box Theatre at McHenry County College (MCC) announces auditions for its next production of Samuel Beckett’s absurdist masterpiece, “Waiting for Godot.”  Auditions will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. on Monday, August 26 and from 6 to 8 p.m.  Tuesday, August 27.

Callbacks will be held on Thursday, August 29 from 6 to 10 p.m.  The auditions will be held in Rooms B168-169, located next to the Luecht Conference Center.  Please prepare a two- to three-minute monologue or use select readings, which will be available at the time of the audition.  Roles are available for five actors.  There will be gender blind casting.

Rehearsals will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. at MCC on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday evenings and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday mornings. Performances will be held at the Woodstock North High School Theatre on October 16, 17, 18, and 19.  Two shows will take place on Oct. 18.  Scripts will be available on reserve in the MCC Library. MCC Black Box Theatre Looking For Actors

The Black Box Theatre at McHenry County College will hold auditions for its fall production of “And Then There Were None,” the great murder mystery by Agatha Christie

Director Tish Lyon will hold auditions from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 30 and 31 in the Black Box Theatre, Room D167. Callbacks will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 2 in the Black Box Theatre.

No past experience is necessary. There are roles for eight men and three women, and auditions are open to all students, alumni, faculty, staff and community members. Actors will be reading from the script for the general auditions—scripts are available on reserve at the MCC Library.
