The Black Box Theatre at McHenry
County College (MCC) will present Samuel Beckett’s absurdist masterpiece,
“Waiting for Godot” at 7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, Oct. 17, 18 and 19 and
at 2 p.m. Oct. 19 and 20. Performances will be held at Woodstock North High
School, 3000 Raffel Road in Woodstock.
“Waiting for Godot,”
revolves around two seemingly homeless men waiting for someone or something
named Godot. Vladimir and Estragon wait near a tree on a barren stretch of
road, inhabiting a drama spun from their own consciousness. The result is a
comical wordplay of poetry, dreamscapes and nonsense, which has been
interpreted as a somber summation of mankind's inexhaustible search for
meaning.
The cast features Joe Rice of
Woodstock, Matt Torres of Lake in the Hills, Dave Lysen of Huntley, Shawn
Tracy and Breanne McDonagh of McHenry. “Waiting for Godot” is directed by Jay
Geller of Kildeer, with set design by Sue Lewis of Crystal Lake, lighting by
Rick Amundsen of Woodstock, costume design by Tish Lyon of Woodstock, stage
manager Tj Neveitt of McHenry, and assistant director Sandy Pieczonka of
Crystal Lake.
Tickets are $10 per person. For
reservations or more information, contact Jay Geller at (815) 455-8746 or jgeller@mchenry.edu. See past MCC
