Louis A.
Bianchi, McHenry County State’s Attorney, announces that Michael
Romano, 56, of Las Vegas, was sentenced to natural life plus 50 years
in the Illinois Department of Corrections for the offenses of First
Degree Murder.
On
October 1, 2015, a McHenry County jury found Mr. Romano guilty of
murdering his father, Nicholas M. Romano (Nick Sr.), and his
step-mother, Gloria Romano. The evidence at trial proved that
in 2006, Michael Romano, who at the time was over $100,000 in debt,
shot Nick Sr. and Gloria in their own home to hasten acquisition of
his inheritance.
The
McHenry County Major Investigation Assistance Team (MIAT) and the
McHenry County Sheriff’s Department investigated this case.
This
case was prosecuted by Patrick Kenneally, Robert Zalud and John
Gibbons of the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office.
