WHERE: MCC Gym/Multipurpose Room, Building A
WHEN: 9:30-11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 18
Description: All employees will start the day with the New-Student Convocation, the official welcome for new students to MCC by the president, administration, staff, and faculty.
This ceremony is an opportunity to convey to students the importance of their educational efforts and the commitment of the College to support these efforts.
As part of MCC’s college and career readiness efforts, the College wants new students to start out being even more prepared and equipped for success. All MCC faculty, staff, administration and trustees are invited to attend this event, which will feature stories from MCC students, various campus organizations and activities, and a challenge from MCC President Vicky Smith.
Students and MCC employees will enjoy a picnic lunch in the cafeteria and courtyard from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. and a college resource fair in the Commons Area. The Convocation will conclude with mini workshops from 1-2 p.m. for students to delve into MCC’s technology, ask questions to a student panel or learn what faculty members expect from students.
The Convocation falls on the first official day back for all faculty. Fall semester classes officially begin Aug. 22.
