A Little Comedy Is A Good Thing

Looking for a hilarious top-notch comedy featuring local comedic greats on an intimate stage that won’t break the bank?

The Raue Center For The Arts is welcoming back headliner Dobie Maxwell, a nationally touring, award-winning comedian who has been perfecting his craft since 1985. He’s worked with such notable comedians as Jay Leno, Jeff Foxworthy, Jerry Seinfeld, Robin Williams, Tim Allen, Drew Carey, Andrew “Dice” Clay, Richard Pryor, Sam Kinison, Dennis Miller, Chris Rock, and many others.

Maxwell also teaches comedy classes and has taught the art of comedy to well over 2,000 students, some of which have gone on to a successful career in comedy.

Also, around to entertain are Matt Drufke and host Mike Preston.

Friday is also the first performance from the Williams Street Repertory improv troupe. They’ll end the night with a little taste of what’s to come this season.

Summer Fun At McHenry County College

Children participate in a “Fun in the Sun” activity during McHenry County College’s Kids and College Summer Tech Camp. 

The camp offers one-week sessions through Aug. 15 featuring fun and innovative programs for grade school through ninth grade students. Some MCC Personal Information Unintentionally Shared

McHenry County College (MCC) has notified certain employees and students that their personal information was unintentionally shared with three other Illinois community colleges by its technology vendor, Ellucian.

The College was made aware of the incident the week of July 22, 2013 by Ellucian, which had inadvertently shared MCC employee and student data, including name, mailing address, social security number and some student IDs, through a reporting template that the company had created for MCC and is also using for the other community colleges.

Upon learning of this situation, MCC immediately put a communication plan in place to notify the individuals affected, which included a personal letter mailed to each person and the creation of a dedicated hotline for individuals to call with questions/concerns. The College also provided those individuals contact information for the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and consumer reporting agencies, in the event that anyone should want to take further measures to guard against potential misuse of personal information.

MCC was advised that the only individuals at the other colleges who may have had access to this personal information are IT and research personnel who are authorized to manage confidential data. Ellucian has coordinated action with the other three community colleges so that all MCC data has been permanently deleted from the other institutions’ electronic systems. The College believes that it is unlikely that this release of personal information resulted in any misuse.

According to MCC Chief Information Officer, Al Butler, “Maintaining the security and confidentiality of personal information is a top priority at MCC. Upon learning of this incident, the College required Ellucian to take immediate action to ensure that any effect from the release of personal information was mitigated.”

MCC has the appropriate measures in place to continue the protection of confidential data.

The Committee, in addition to approving bills and prior meeting minutes, is expected to consider a plat vacation for Woodland Estates of Cary.

8:30 a.m. – McHenry County Board Public Health and Human Services Committee—

Meeting in the County Board Conference Room, County Administration Building, 667 Ware Road, Woodstock.

The Committee is scheduled to interview Joanne Hanrahan for a position on the Valley Hi Operating Board with a deliberation and selection of one candidate for recommendation to the County Board Chairwoman for the Valley Hi Operating Board for a term to expire on June 30, 2014.

The Committee is also to consider budget reviews for

Meeting in the Township Offices, 3702 US Highway 14, Crystal Lake.

The Board is to audit bills and the treasurer’s report regarding the four funds including Town Fund, General Assistance, Road & Bridge Fund and Equipment & Building Fund.

Another matter to be handled by the Board is the appointment of Clerk Charles A. Lutzow, Jr. as a FOIA officer.
