Quit Smoking Classes For Adults -- May 13

Reserve your seat for the next quit smoking classes for adults sponsored by McHenry County Department of Health (MCDH) and Centegra Health System. Space is still available for the seven-week class. Classes will be held from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m., beginning Wednesday, May 13, at Centegra’s Health Bridge Fitness Center, located at 200 East Congress Parkway in Crystal Lake.  A $25 course fee is refunded if all sessions are attended. Class members will also receive a free 3-day pass to the Health Bridge Fitness Center. To register, call MCDH at 815-334-4525 or 1-877-CENTEGRA.
 
Classes will teach practical ways to end nicotine addiction through group support and behavior modification.  It will also review nicotine replacement products that are currently on the market. Openings For January Quit Smoking Class

Registration is still open for the January quit smoking class offered by the McHenry County Department of Health (MCDH) and Centegra Health System.  The seven-week class will be held from 9am-10:30am beginning Tuesday, January 13, at Huntley Health Bridge Fitness Center, located at 10450 Algonquin Road, Huntley.  A $25 course fee is refundable if all sessions are attended. Upcoming Quit Smoking Classes Could Be Free

 McHenry County Department of Health (MCDH) will offer the American Lung Association’s “Freedom from Smoking” program, a 7-week quit smoking class for adults. The program begins on Tuesday, November 2, from 5:30pm-6:30pm at MCDH Crystal Lake office (100 N Virginia Street).  The $25 enrollment fee is refundable if all sessions are attended.  Call 815-334-4931 to register. 

Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in the United States for both men and women.  More than 70% of smokers want to quit and attempt to do so each year, but without help, most fail.  Smoking cessation counseling and medicines are proven to help and improve quit rates.  MCDH classes give participants the assistance and tools needed to stop smoking in a supportive group setting.  The program will discuss your readiness to quit, nicotine replacement products, behavior modification, copies strategies, stress and weight management, and how to stay smoke-free for good.
