New Traffic Signals For Pyott, Virginia And Pingree Intersections

The new traffic signals at the Pyott, Virginia and Pingree intersections will be turned on Thursday, November 15th.

Once operational, the barrels and barricades will be removed from the pavement to allow the roadway to be fully opened to traffic in this area! 

Expect some delays as this work is done and the signals are transitioned from the temporary to permanent ones.   Please be alert and look for the new signals!

As a reminder, the work zone speed limit will remain at 35 mph through Friday, November 16th as work continues along the project!

Pingree Road Re-opens Friday

The City of Crystal Lake is on schedule to officially re-open Pingree Road Friday, October 5. The estimated time is around mid-day.

The City appreciates the patience and cooperation of our residents and area business owners during the road closure, which was completed ahead of schedule.

This construction project provides a permanent, modernized traffic signal at the intersection, and drivers will be able to travel more efficiently and safely with the additional lanes.

Pedestrians are also able to enjoy new sidewalks along the west side of Pingree across the railroad tracks, connecting existing paths between Route 14 and the residential neighborhoods to the north.

This project was the result of a partnership between Metra and the City of Crystal Lake. 

 

Modified Traffic Pattern On Pingree Road

The traffic pattern on Pingree Road has been modified – please use care when driving through this area. 

Pingree Road traffic has been shifted to the east to allow the last portion of existing pavement in the northwest corner to be replaced.  Please use extra caution when making turns onto Pingree Road from Rakow because the travel lanes are now east of where they used to be. 

Also, in order to construct the last remaining center section of Rakow Road at IL 31, it will be necessary to remove the temporary asphalt pavement in the radius that is currently in place at the intersection. 

This work will be done Saturday, May 5th –tomorrow-- and will affect the southbound turning movements from IL 31 onto westbound Rakow.  Please use extra care when making this turn.

Pingree Road Improvements Near Completion

The City of Crystal Lake reports that the final stages of completing the improvements to Pingree Road between US 14 and Rakow Road are underway.

The project included the rehabilitation of the deteriorated pavement, addition of a center turn lane, and a bike path along the east side of the road. All this required that traffic be temporarily limited to north bound vehicles only during the construction.

Work is wrapping up for the season and Pingree Road, between Pointe Drive and Tek Drive, is scheduled to be-opened to two-way traffic on Tuesday, November 22

Motorists should note that the stop signs on Pingree Road, at Three Oaks Road, will be removed once two-way traffic is re-established, as they are not warranted per the Federal guidelines that were applied due to the federal grant used in part to fund this project.

Changes On Pingree Road

Tomorrow, Friday, the traffic pattern on Pingree Road will be changing.

Traffic will be switched to the opposite side of the road to allow new pavement to be constructed on the half where traffic is currently running.  Be aware of the new lane alignments that will be in place.  It will be necessary to use flaggers as portions of this work are completed so please be alert when driving through these areas.
