Final Week Of Crystal Lake Hydrant Flushing

The final week of water running down Crystal Lake Streets is almost here.

Monday will begin the seventh and last week of this year's hydrant flushing program. The area involved includes south of Alexandra to Miller Road and west of Randall Road.

Residents are reminded that during flushing, water may become temporarily discolored due to material being removed from water mains. The water is safe to drink, but may stain clothes washed during hydrant flushing. Residents should try to limit water usage during this time, but if this is not possible, the City offers Rover, a chemical that can be used as a cleanser in laundry to remove iron stains, free of charge, should problems occur. Week Six For Crystal Lake Hydrant Flushing

The Sixth week of hydrant flushing in Crystal Lake—May 3 to May 7—will involve residents south of Barlina Road to Alexandra Boulevard, west of McHenry Avenue and west of Randall Road.

Fifth Week of Hydrant Flushing In Crystal Lake

If you see water running down a thoroughfare in Crystal Lake, it is not a broken main. The Crystal Lake Water Division is flushing fire hydrants throughout the city.

This is the fifth of a seven-week program to clean out the City's water distribution system and allow for inspection of hydrants.This week –April 26 through April 30- the area west of Route 14 and McHenry Avenue and north of Barlina Road is the selected area.

During flushing, water may become temporarily discolored due to material being removed from water mains. The water is safe to drink, but may stain clothes washed during hydrant flushing.

More Hydrant Flushing In Crystal Lake

The fourth section of Crystal Lake is scheduled for hydrant flushing beginning Monday. This area includes the area south of Route 14; east of McHenry Avenue to Route 31. The area involved may be observed by going to the 2010 Hydrant Flushing Map. This week's area is the tan colored area.

The second section of Hydrant Flushing in Crystal Lake will begin Monday. This section includes areas south of Route 176 to Route 14; east of Main Street to Route 31 (south of Crystal Lake Avenue); east of Route 31 and south of Route 14 to Walmart.

Residents are reminded that the flushing does cause the water to become temporarily discolored due to material being removed from the water mains. The water is safe to drink, but may stain clothes washed during hydrant flushing. Water usage should be limited during this time, but if this is not possible, the City offers Rover, a chemical that can be used as a cleanser in laundry to remove iron stains, free of charge, should the problem arise.
