Cyber-crimes
and fraud are a daily occurrence. Find out how you can protect
yourself against identity theft and internet fraud at a free
educational seminar hosted by the Friends of McHenry County College
Foundation from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 21 in the Scot Room
(B171), located in Building B at McHenry County College.
Attendees
can park in lot B for easy access. The college is located at 8900
U.S. Hwy. 14 in Crystal Lake.
The
seminar presenter is Lisa Thompson-Bennett from the Illinois Attorney
General’s Office. This Identify Theft and Internet Fraud seminar
will provide a general overview of the topics and issues of “top
scams;” how to recognize, avoid and what to do if you are a victim
of a scam; ways to avoid and protect yourself from identity theft and
data breaches and the responsibilities of businesses and individuals
who receive and/or maintain personal information.
This
seminar is part of the 2015 Educational Seminar Series hosted by the
Friends of MCC Foundation. Presenters are experts in their field and
volunteer their time to share their knowledge on topics of interest.
The
event is free and open to the public. Walk-ins are welcome, but
registration is strongly encouraged. To
