Representative Wheeler Opposes Amendment To Ban Sale of Raw Milk On Farms

Following the passage of House Amendment 1 to House Bill 4036 in the House Human Services Committee, State Rep. Barbara Wheeler (R-Crystal Lake) released the following statement:

“With respect to the sponsor’s intention of improving Illinois’ public health, I must state that I am against the amendment that would ban the sale of raw milk on Illinois farms.  Illinois law allows for the sale of raw milk if it is sold on the farm.  It is the position of the Illinois Farm Bureau to support the choices of consumers whom choose to purchase and consume raw milk.  I stand with the Illinois Farm Bureau and farmers in Lake and McHenry Counties to continue to leave the choice between farmers and consumers.”
