This case
was investigated by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Department. The defendant was
pulled over for running a stop sign at the intersection of Ringwood and
Johnsburg roads. The defendant smelled strongly of alcohol and had two
children, ages 8 and 10, in the car. He failed field sobriety tests and
admitted to drinking 4 or 5 beers.
This is his
fifth conviction for driving under the influence of alcohol. The defendant is
scheduled for a sentencing hearing on November 17, 2013. This offense is a
class one felony punishable between four and fifteen years in the penitentiary.
The defendant is not eligible for probation. The case was prosecuted by David
Johnston and Robert Zalud.
