McHenry County College Sustainability
Center staff members display one of the new recycling bins designed
specifically for placement at the baseball and soccer fields at the college’s
Crystal Lake campus. The 60-gallon bins are one effort to reduce the college’s
carbon footprint by decreasing the waste stream and increasing recycling. The
college purchased eight bins through a grant from Keep America Beautiful and the
Coca-Cola Foundation. Pictured are, from left, Cecelia Long, Sustainability
Center student assistant and Kim Hankins, Sustainability Center director.
