For more than a year, actions have been underway In
Illinois to set up Illinois’ state health insurance exchange, a new marketplace
for insurance that would allow hundreds of thousands of Illinoisans to beat
back skyrocketing health care costs by pooling their buying power to negotiate
a better deal.
But the Illinois General Assembly is at a partisan stalemate. Lawmakers won’t even vote on it. Governor Pat Quinn needs to step in and get it done.
The governor can create the insurance exchange through executive order, rather than waiting for the General Assembly to act.
The sooner the governor acts, the sooner consumers can take control of their health insurance choices. Perhaps the Governor needs to hear from his constituents. This is the address:
