. Transportation Planning Process Explained

Gain a better understanding of transportation funding and learn how to have effective environmental input into the transportation planning process.  Community members are invited to attend a workshop on Friday, February 18th to participate in an initiative to foster better understanding of how resource protection priorities can be incorporated into the transportation planning process.  The workshop will be from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the Conference Center at McHenry County College.

Multiple presenters from federal, state, and county agencies will speak on transportation funding and project development.  Alternate modes of transportation and environmentally friendly transportation construction and maintenance practices will also be discussed.  Frameworks for future planning, incorporating timely and effective environmental input into the transportation planning process will be a main focus as well.

This workshop is a project of Chicago Wilderness and facilitated by The Delta Institute, working locally with the Environmental Defenders of McHenry County, the Land Conservancy of McHenry County, the Soil and Water Conservation District of McHenry County, and the Lou Marchi Total Recycling Institute.
