One Lane Traffic On Union Road Bridge Over South Branch of Kishwaukee River

The McHenry County Division of Transportation(McDOT) will reduce traffic to one lane on the Union Road Bridge over the South Branch of the Kishwaukee River in Seneca Township.

The lane reduction is due to a loss of structural integrity in an interior bridge beam. Motorists should expect some delays. Approximately 2,050 vehicles per day travel over this bridge.

The McHenry County Division of Transportation is currently working on the design plans for the replacement of this bridge with Baxter & Woodman. The duration of the lane reduction is indefinite; however, the bridge has been programmed for replacement in the Spring of 2011.

Inspections are accomplished on a routine basis and intermittently as required on all bridges on County Highways throughout McHenry County. These inspections are performed as required by the Illinois Department of Transportation.

The Union Road Bridge is located approximately half a mile north of the Village of Union and approximately two miles east of the Village of Marengo. The South Branch of the Kishwaukee River crosses Union Road just south of IL Rte 176.
