The Committee is to consider the reclassification of a position in the Division of Transportation.

Another resolution to be considered is authorizing two new Treatment Clinician Positions, a transfer of one Clinical Nurse Position, and an Emergency Appropriation in the Special Courts Fiscal Year 2012 budget.

A resolution is being presented for consideration by the Committee authorizing acceptance of the DHS FamlyConsumer Specialist Grant, the unfreezing and reclassifying of a frozen position and an emergency appropriation in the Fiscal Year 2012 McHenry County Mental health Board Budget.

Guidelines for fiscal Year 2012 Pay-For-Performance Adjustments are also to be established.

Discussion is slated regarding Verisight Wage/Classification Recommendations and Vacant/Frozen positions.

The Committee is to consider an Emergency Appropriation in the Fiscal Year 2011-2012 Budget to Establish the Series 2012 A-B Debt Certificates Fund.

An amendment approving engineering services agreement with the State of Illinois for the Illinois Route 31 Western Algonquin Bypass.

A resolution is also being presented for approval authorizing a four-year Pannasonic ToughBook lease with Meridian Leasing Corporation and the necessary emergency appropriation for same.

We are engaged in a “political battle zone” all because there is an election coming in November.

We’ve heard many remarks regarding ‘negative campaigning’. It is not new, as evidenced by some historic data found:

Concert In The Park Tuesday Evening

The next Free Concert In The Park is scheduled Tuesday, June 12 when the Crystal Lake Community Band will provide the music for listeners at the Crystal Lake Main Beach Band Shell.

This is a long-standing event each summer when fans of music listening may gather at the beach to enjoy a musical event. These are scheduled each week on Tuesday evening with a different band each week.

The concert begins at 7:00 p.m. and refreshments will be available for purchase. In case Mother Nature has other ideas than providing the necessary good weather, concert goers may call the Program Weather Information Hotline at (815) 459-7275 for information.

How To Reduce Owed Income Tax Debt

Anyone owing money to the IRS may find out how to reduce their tax debt by attending an Offer in Compromise (OIC) information session offered by McHenry County College from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 12 in Room A207. The College is located at 8900 U.S. Hwy. 14 in Crystal Lake.

An Offer in Compromise is a proposal submitted to the IRS requesting relief from a taxpayer’s full tax debt. With documentation, review, and analysis it may be possible to settle a tax debt for less than 100 percent of the amount owed. An Offer in Compromise may be accepted by the IRS if the taxpayer can demonstrate that “equity in assets” and “disposable income” does not add up to enough for the taxpayer to full pay.

This may be a legitimate option if the taxpayer can't pay the full tax liability, or doing so creates a financial hardship. The IRS considers a taxpayer’s unique set of facts and circumstances. The IRS generally approves an offer in compromise when the amount offered represents the most the IRS can expect to collect within a reasonable period of time.

The Offer in Compromise program is not for everyone. Before the IRS can consider an offer, the taxpayer must be current with all filing and payment requirements. The taxpayer is not eligible if in an open bankruptcy proceeding.

This presentation is designed to provide an overview of the Offer program. The public is invited to this informational session. After the session, appointments can be made with the MCC Tax Clinic to help determine if a taxpayer is eligible for an OIC. If the taxpayer is eligible for an OIC, the taxpayer can also apply for free tax help from the MCC Tax Clinic.
