Anniversary Celebration For Raue Center For The Arts

Chicago’s own Dennis Tufano’s highly acclaimed show “As Long As I’m Singing” kicks off Raue Center’s new season on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. There will also be a pre-show celebration in honor of opening night of the 10th anniversary season!

“As Long As I’m Singing” is a tip of the hat tribute to the music of Bobby Darin. It revisits a period in entertainment history that captures the intimacy of a sophisticated supper club era. Chicago natives Dennis Tufano, the “Original Voice” of The Buckinghams, and Tim Walkoe, grand prize winner of ABC’s “America’s Funniest People” and a Lucy’s Café regular, co-star in this two act musical performance. The show opens with Darin’s earliest Rock ‘n Roll hits and moves into a Las Vegas nightclub performance. Grammy winner Michael Acosta, former musical director for the Brian Setzer Orchestra, provides the show’s musical supervision, with direction by Ernie Lane.

“Long before I was the original lead singer of The Buckinghams, I was listening to Bobby Darin’s ‘Dream Lover’ on the car radio,” says Tufano. “The inspiration I felt then, listening to this dynamic entertainer, opened up the possibility to me that I could become a singer too.” This inspiration and passion for Bobby Darin’s music are evident in Tufano’s tribute.

Tufano is an energetic, vibrant and multi-faceted entertainer. Over the years, Tufano has appeared in films, TV, commercials and theatre, and has created, directed and produced documentary films. He tours continuously, bringing the music of Bobby Darin to eager audiences everywhere.
