Used Underwear Sought For Illegal Border-Crossers

The relentless influx of illegals crossing America’s southern border on a daily basis has put an undue burden on those tasked with processing these international lawbreakers. As the Department of Homeland Security recently announced, the occupation has also resulted in a huge drain on other resources – specifically underwear.
According to a recent request, the DHS is asking the government for an enormous supply of cotton briefs up to size XXXXXXL to meet the clothing needs of the illegal border-crossers. One group has responded to that solicitation with an idea of its own.
Amnesty opponents in the Americans for Legal Immigration PAC (ALIPAC) put out a call this week for citizens to mail their used underwear to the White House in an effort to assist in the collection effort.
In a statement posted to its website, ALIPAC President William Gheen complained that America’s embrace of amnesty over border security “only brings more unwanted and destructive illegal immigration!”
He then laid out the group’s call to action.
“Instead of using our tax money to buy illegals 42,000 pairs of new underwear, we would like to send the illegals and DC politicians a message by mailing them our used underwear, and some of our pairs are in really bad shape due to the bad economy and all of the jobs illegal immigrants are taking from Americans.”
The statement went on to discourage Americans from sending unwashed donations, asserting “DC is already full of dirty laundry.”
ALIPAC criticized leaders in both parties who refuse to adequately address America’s immigration problem. The Obama administration’s use of taxpayer money to support illegals when they arrive, only to release them into the population a short time later, is a disastrous policy, the group noted.
House Speaker John Boehner, the statement suggested, is hardly an encouraging voice of Republican opposition.
“Americans who want to help the illegals and Americans who are upset that John Boehner and Barack Obama are throwing the future of American children under the bus along with their Oaths of Office, the US Constitution, the outcome of our elections, and the current laws of Congress,” the group wrote, “are encouraged to mail their used underwear to Barack Obama at The White House, 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, Washington, DC 20500, and John Boehner at Office of the Speaker, H-232 The Capitol, Washington, DC 20515.”

Mosquitos Not Welcome In City Of Crystal Lake

In conjunction with the City's ongoing mosquito control program, a City-wide misting application
will take place in the City in an attempt to control the adult mosquito population.

The application will take place overnight between Wednesday, July 2, 2014 and Thursday, July 3, 2014.  If weather conditions do not allow the application to occur, it will take place on the next available evening.
In addition to the targeted misting application, the City's mosquito abatement contractor, Clarke Environmental Mosquito Management, Inc., will continue larviciding efforts in the City.
Clarke will apply a synthetic pyrethroid used widely throughout the Chicagoland area for adult mosquito control.
As part of the City’s existing Mosquito Abatement Program, Clarke regularly examines and treats breeding sites throughout the City, including storm sewer catch basins. The program helps control mosquitoes while they are in the larval stage.
In addition to the abatement program, residents can help control mosquito development by monitoring potential breeding sites in their yards and throughout the City and alerting Clarke to the locations by calling the toll-free Mosquito Hotline at 1-800-942-2555. Upon resident request, one application of Altosid® XR briquette, which lasts for 150 days, will be placed in backyard catch basins. Residents are also asked to call the Mosquito Hotline to make arrangements for the application.
Questions regarding the application or any other part of Crystal Lake’s Mosquito Abatement Program can be directed to the Clarke’s Hotline at 1-800-942-2555.

An online and in-person network that federal employees anywhere can join and share ideas and tools for improving customer satisfaction

Safety Grant For MCC Provides Upgraded Security Camera System

McHenry County College plans to upgrade its security camera system that will allow campus police officers the ability to view the Colleges camera’s on smart phones, tablets and from remote locations, thanks to a $107,000 state grant recently awarded to the College as part of the Illinois School and Campus Safety Grant program.
McHenry County College is one of 448 elementary, secondary and higher education institutions to receive grant awards totaling $25 million, as announced by Governor Pat Quinn. The grants will support 1,312 projects at schools throughout the state.
“Nothing is more important in Illinois than keeping our schools safe,” Gov. Quinn said in a press release. “These projects will strengthen security at main entry points, providing school personnel with critical moments to alert law enforcement, activate plans to protect students and save lives.”
According to Michael Clesceri, executive director of Public Safety and Facilities at MCC, the College’s existing camera system purchased in 2008 through another state grant, is outdated and overloaded and a new system will enhance emergency response during a major incident.
“The grant is timely because we were looking to upgrade our camera system,” Clesceri said. “Colleges have been a target of active shooters in the past. A new surveillance platform allows us to have remote access to track a suspect’s movements, which will assist in our response and better serve the college community.”
MCC was one of the few schools to receive the full amount requested. Out of 623 applicants, 72 percent received 46 percent of the funds requested. Clesceri attributes MCC’s ability to receive full funding to clearly articulating the College’s needs and having a good track record of maintaining its own system within the College’s Information Technology Department.
“Anytime we can save taxpayers’ money, that’s a great thing,” Clesceri said. “The grant allows us to free up deferred maintenance funding to be spent on other projects within the College.”
College officials plan to have a new camera system installed during Fall 2014 Semester.
