The economy must be really rotten!
Advertising now is automatically sent without even requesting it. And if you don't want it, well tough.
The only advertising Towncrier has done is usually for the local organizations and that is the way we would like to keep it. However, various companies send their ads to advertising agencies who distribute them to various locations. They suddenly show up on websites without making a request for permission to do so. And above all without offering remuneration for carrying the ads. That, in our view, is theft of services.
So if ads are showing up, keep in mind who are the thieves.
