Local American Veterans Portraits And Stories At Shah Center

McHenry County College’s Shah Center is presenting “Portraits of American Veterans Project,” an exhibit of oil paintings of local American veterans with photographs and stories about the veterans told in their own words, through Dec. 18. The Shah Center is located at 4100 W. Shamrock Lane in McHenry.

A reception and artist’s talk will take place from 4:30-7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 18 featuring Jeanine Hill-Soldner, the artist who created the portraits.

This groundbreaking project represents American veterans in narrative context where paintings and stories provide a visual dialogue, and a connection between the viewer and the veteran.

Hill-Soldner includes veterans of all ages, both men and women in her work. There are now 14 portraits representing veterans from WWII, Korean War, Vietnam War, Kosovo Conflict, Philippine Conflict, and wars in Afghanistan and Iraq
