Property Assessment Explanation Available

Once again the McHenry County Association of REALTORS will be holding a series of Property Assessment Fairs, being held Thursday, September 15th or Thursday, September 29.  The location is the Association offices, 405 E. Congress Parkway, Suite B, Crystal Lake.

McHenry County Assessor Bob Ross will give an overview of the assessment process. Trained realtors will be on hand to give an approximate value range of your home, including comparable properties.

Property owners will hear about the assessment appeal process and the “Board of Review” and find out the best approach for a discussion about a property assessment.

Two dates are offered for these services. Property owners are asked to call 815-459-0600 to reserve a seat at one of the two dates.

Seating is limited to the first 60 RSVPs to arrive before a 5:15 p.m. registration.

The program:
6:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. a presentation will be given.
6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. property evaluations will be provided
Evaluations will be provided for 20-minute appointments for the first 25 attendees.

Property owners desiring to take advantage of this opportunity to understand a little more about the property assessment process should call for one of the two dates.

Appointments are being given in 20-minute intervals for the first 25 attendees on a first-come first served basis.

It is important that property owners bring their property tax ID cards or the evaluations cannot be provided.

Monday, August 29th was the first in this year’s series and it was a great success.
The REALTORS group suggests that if you know anyone who is thinking of appealing their taxes please send them to the Property Assessment fair so they can hear what Bob Ross has to say then if they wish they can sit with a licensed REALTOR for the agents to pull comparable market analysis for them.

If you have any questions please feel free to give us a call at 815-459-0600.
