New Proposals For Crystal Lake Community Recreation Center

Crystal Lake Park District Board has a decision to make regarding which firm to retain to conduct a feasibility study for a proposed Community Recreation Center. The Board heard presentations from two firms at Thursday night’s meeting, AECOM Technical Services of Chicago and Ballard and King, of Highlands Ranch, Colorado.

AECOM Technical Services with support from Heller and Heller Consulting and Richard Day Research presented their proposal to the Board. The work AECOM proposes consists of several phases, including an analysis of the local population, existing facilities and programs in Crystal Lake, along with competitive and comparable facilities in the area, and a poll of likely voters.

AECOM, of Chicago, would generally analyze the market for a new recreation center in Crystal Lake, including an analysis of the local population, existing facilities and programs in Crystal Lake, competitive and comparable facilities in the area, and will then prepare a usage and financial forecast of the recommended facility’s future operations. The estimated cost is between $30, 960 and $35,055, depending upon how much the Park District desires to have done.

Ballard and King proposes to review previous market analysis data along with fee structure, sources, operating cost projections, revenue generation projections, current facility analysis.

The firm would then conduct community outreach and data gathering followed by a poll of likely voters. All this would then be implemented into a final report to the Park District. The cost is not to exceed $39,500.

The Board also has the option to consider one of the two proposals or reject both proposals.
