Hill Road Bridge Remains Closed

The Hill Road Bridge over the North Branch Nippersink Creek just east of the Village of Richmond in Richmond Township, which was closed in January of this year, will remain closed through the Spring/Summer of 2013. The closure was due to a loss of structural integrity of several bridge deck beams and significant pile deterioration.

The bridge was originally scheduled for construction to take place during the summer of 2012 to replace the bridge.  While the design was completed and bids opened by the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), contract procurement issues encountered by IDOT have necessitated in the project needing to be re-bid.

Local residents are advised to continue to use US 12/ IL 31 south to U.S. 12 east to North Solon Road then north as the posted detour route.

The Hill Road Bridge is located east of Richmond village limits east of the public library. Hill Road has its western terminus at US 12/IL 31 and its eastern terminus at North Solon Road. Please see the attached location map.
