Thirty-Eight Years In The Pen For First Degree Murder Of Stepmother

Twenty-nine year old Martin Green of Fox River Grove has been sentenced to 38 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections, according to a report from McHenry County State’s Attorney Louis A. Bianchi.

The sentencing is for offence of First Degree Murder. On February 11, 2010 defendant Green killed Patricia McNamara, his stepmother, by beating her to death with a hammer. This was in her Fox River Grove home. After the murder, Green fled the scene and washed the blood from his body in the Fox River, then disposed of his clothes in a dumpster. Following a search of the area by police Green was apprehended.

Green must serve 100 percent of the sentence as mandated by Illinois law. The case was investigated by the Fox River Grove Police Department with the Assistance of the McHenry County Investigative Assistance Team.

Prosecution was handled by Assistant State’s Attorneys David Johnston and Patrick Kenneally.
