Heat Advisory Today From 11 AM to 8 PM

Area covered: includes Counties of Winnebago, Boone, McHenry, Lake, Ogle, Lee, DeKalb, Kane, DuPage, Cook, LaSalle, Kendall, Grundy, Will, Kankakee, Livingston, Iroquois, Ford, Lake, (IN) Porter, Newton, Jasper, Benton.

Cities covered include: Rockford, Belvidere, Woodstock, Waukegan, Crystal Lake, Dixon, DeKalb, Aurora, Wheaton, Chicago, Ottawa, Oswego, Morris, Joliet, Kankakee, Pontiac, Watseka, Paxton, Gary, Valparaiso, Morocco, Rensselaer, and Fowler.

A Heat Advisory Is In Effect For Today & This Evening.
Temperatures/Heat Index will rise into the lower and mid-90’s today, combined with the very moist air over the area, the afternoon heat indices of 100 to 110 degrees are expected.

IMPACTS
The high heat and humidity combined with skies becoming mostly sunny by midday will increase the potential for heat-related illnesses if proper precautions are not taken.

Precautionary/Preparedness Actions
A heat advisory means that a period of hot weather is expected with high temperatures and high humidity which will combine to crate a situation in which heat illnesses are possible. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and checkup on relatives and neighbors.

Children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles, under any circumstances. This is especially true during hot weather when the car interior can reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes
